It’s that time again when many International Teachers are coming to the end of their existing contracts or just relish a new challenge.
Professionally, due to timing, you most likely have already had to resign from your existing post (usually by Christmas) before confirming a new posting (vacancies advertised/job fairs begin early Jan 2017 onwards).
It can be a very stressful and uncertain time with so many issues to take into account;
These used to be the main deciders but we hear teachers place equal importance on other issues namely the Employee Benefits within the package. eg;
Flights home annually.
Children’s paid school fees.
Health Care. ( including dependents)
Life cover/ Income Protection.
It’s not at all easy to find the perfect job professionally, in a location of choice with your benefit criteria all fulfilled..
Unfortunately compromises may have to be made.
If you feel those include points 5, 6 or 7 there could be ways to enhance your employer’s offered benefits.
