Quarterly Newsletter - January 2015

We begin 2015 having made a number of highly significant changes to Alexander Beard Group at the year-end...
- In mid-October we completed the merger of our Employee Benefit business with Bogaard Pensioen B.V. of the Netherlands and the new merged business will trade as Alexander Beard International Benefits B.V.
- On December the 19th we completed the acquisition of Lepretre and Partners Ltd., a City of London based wealth management firm run by Andrew Moore and Peter Smith. Both Andrew and Peter have become partners in our newly consolidated UK wealth management business called Alexander Beard Wealth LLP.
- The regulated status of our UK business will now be transferred to Alexander Beard Investment Management Ltd (formally Lepretre and Partners Ltd) of which Alexander Beard Wealth LLP will be an appointed representative.
- We now have 4 distinct businesses within the group trading in their own right and under separate but connected corporate identities and therefore we took the decision that we no longer needed the Alexander Beard Group to have Plc status and accordingly that was renamed Alexander Beard Group of Companies Limited at the year-end.
The acquisition of Lepretre and Partners Ltd brings us the services of Andrew Moore (pictured left) and he becomes Alexander Beard’s Investment Director and will be responsible for managing a new range of Alexander Beard managed portfolios that we will be rolling out to clients over the course of the next 3-6 months.
The merger with Bogaard Pensioen in the Netherlands offers our growing international employee benefits greater opportunities to develop our cross border services to our core marketplace; U.S.A. based companies in particular the technology and IT sector.
During the last quarter of the year our employee benefit business also welcomed the appointment of Holly Potts as Client Relationship Manager and she has already made her mark with both clients and our professional introducers. We are also looking forward to the imminent launch of version 2 of our flexible benefits website StaffChoice.
We also had two retirements during the year:
Steve Taylor, a partner in our Leeds branch after 11 years with the company whose unfailing capacity for work is unlikely to be equaled.
Janet Jenkinson, the Director of our International School and Aid Agencies business, decided to retire on the 31st of December. Janet has been at the forefront of our International Schools business for almost 7 years and during her 20+ year career in this marketplace she’s made many friends on her worldwide travels. Finding her replacement will be a challenge that I am looking forward to as the person in concern needs to have particular skills and a real desire to travel the world on business!
Finally, our new website which incorporates all these changes and developments should be up and running by the end of the first quarter of this year and we will make an announcement to all our clients when it is available to be viewed.
I wish you your families and your colleagues a happy healthy and prosperous 2015.
