Alexander Beard Group
Paul began his financial services career in 1975 with Property Growth Assurance Company Limited.
He subsequently worked for nine years with Allied Dunbar Assurance, leaving in 1987 to launch the Alexander Beard Group business. initially as a provider of investment and insurance services to clients in the music and entertainment industry, accumulating over the years a client list including numerous world famous recording stars, record producers, TV and Radio presenters, leading perhaps inevitably in the late 90’s to professional footballers.
Since the early 90’s however, Paul led the Group’s international growth to its present position of providing a wide range of international financial services to global expatriates and international companies through its offices in the UK, Australia, France, the Netherlands and the U.S.A. as well as making 12 acquisitions (take a read of Our history).
From 2004 until 2009 Paul served as a Director and Council member of the Association of Independent Financial Advisers (A.I.F.A) as well as also having been on the Board of its predecessor I.F.A.A. for 5 yrs up until 2001.
He has both written and been regularly quoted in the trade press as well as appearing on BBC Radio 5 Live in a programme about “Life after Professional Football”. He was a speaker at the 2010 IBIS International HR Conference in Lisbon and London’s 2013 Global Mobility Summit.
Anita joined the Alexander Beard Group in April 2005 with responsibility for overhauling the administration of their recent acquisition in the International Schools market.
Having achieved notable success in this role Anita was promoted to Head of Administration for the whole group in January 2007 from where she took on a series of increased responsibilities including management of the group's back office client management system and in 2012, the successful introduction of our paperless office project - Virtual Cabinet.
In September 2013 Anita became Divisional Director with responsibility for Operations and HR and in January 2015, following the acquisition and mergers that took place at the end of the previous year, Anita joined the Board of ABG as Operations Director.
Prior to joining the Alexander Beard Group, Anita had worked for many years for a national firm of financial advisers in both sales support and compliance roles.
Partner / Director
Andrew graduated from Sheffield University with a Masters in French in 1998. His dissertation on risk and investment in high speed rail ignited his passion for the investment world and lead him towards financial services and a graduate training programme at global accountants Mazars, where he worked as a consultant until 2003. He then joined SMA Consultants assisting one of the Directors until it was acquired by BestInvest. In 2005 he joined Lepretre & Partners Ltd where he eventually became a Director following a successful management buy-out in 2007.
He was awarded Chartered Financial Planner status at the end of 2014 and has continued to develop his investment ideas throughout his career, designing investment modeling software and innovative research processes.
As a result of the acquisition of L&P he joined the Board of ABG on the 1st January 2015 as Investment Director.
C.E.O. - AB International Benefits B.V.
Bram Bogaard restarted his career as a pension and employee benefit consultant by joining the consultancy firm of his father Max; Bogaard Pensioen Consultancy.
Since then he has further developed the business into a specialized consultancy firm for Dutch pension funds and international clients mainly from the U.S.A.
Bram also has qualifications in marketing management from the Netherlands University of Professional Education, is a Certified Pension Consultant and Actuarial Calculator with additional qualifications in WFT Life and Non-Life Insurance.
Bram has a strong client service ethos grounded in the belief that sustainable consulting relationships require dedication and commitment to effective working partnerships.
Using his broad international network of service and product providers, Bram ensures that his clients always receive high quality service, ranging from administrative matters to complex actuarial, compensation and benefits services.
Bram was appointed to the main Board in February 2018.
Managing Director: France - Alexander Beard (France) SAS
Nicolas has a Master's degree in Business Law, and began his career in financial services in 2001, with Euresa-Life in Luxembourg as an account manager for the French market.
In 2004, he joined GSD, a wealth management firm as Sales Director.
In 2007, while still at GSD, Nicolas co-founded KMH based in Lyon, a new consultancy, specializing in financial and wealth auditing, brokering financial products and asset management.
In 2013, he was invited to join the supervisory board of 360Hixance AM.
Nicolas is an true 'European' having also studied and worked in Germany, and Luxembourg) and is also treasurer of Cercle France Patrimoine, the National Association of Independent Financial Advisers in France.
Originally from Southampton, Liz moved to Wirral after completing her degree in Financial Economics at Coventry University in 1997. She first worked within the Investment departments of Tilney Investment Management and Nelson Money Managers before settling in the Finance department at Iceland Foods Ltd in 2003.
Here she gained valuable experience in all aspects of finance over a 15 year period, culminating in her position as Finance Manager within the Management Accounts function where she had responsibility for budgets exceeding £90m.
During this time Liz gained her ACCA qualification, then moved on to head up the Finance team of retailer As Nature Intended Ltd, an Iceland family company, in 2017 where she implemented a number of large projects and new initiatives to drive the business forward.
Paul has worked in the International Life and Pensions area since 1979. He was the CEO of Nordben Life and Pension Insurance Co Limited from 1995 to 2009 , who were market leader in the Nordic Region to large corporations for Expatriates, Third Country Nationals and Globally Mobile Employees solutions. Previously, he had worked for Bacon and Woodrow (the Consulting Actuaries) and Generali (the Italian Insurer).
Paul has chaired the Guernsey Association of Pension Funds, Guernsey Insurers Association and the Technical Committee of the Insurope Life Insurance Network.
Paul was on the Board of Nordben Life and their Trust Company subsidiaries until their sale in 2019. He was also a Board Member of the Trustee of a Shipping Association Provident Fund with some 45,000 Members from 2008 to 2020.
Currently, Paul is the CEO of Storebrand Life's (Norway's leading pension provider) Irish Subsidiary, Euroben Life, which manages a large pension scheme for a Swedish Multinational and he also supports the International Departments of Storebrand Life (Norway), SPP (Sweden) and Mandatum (Finland), all leading pension providers.
Director: France - Alexander Beard (France) SAS
Guillaume’s career in financial services began in 2001 at SCP Oudot & Associés, based in Paris. His legal background, as a qualified French notary and a doctorate in law helped him develop international inheritance and succession client solutions.
In 2005 he joined Alcyone Patrimoine as a wealth planning consultant, before moving to Lyon where he extended his wealth planning, family law and international law experience with SCP Porte et Associés, Notaires.
In 2007 with Nicolas Medan, he co-founded KMH.
Guillaume has given presentations and published several works on a wide range of financial and legal issues and is regularly invited to speak at conferences and workshops.
Managing Director - Alexander Beard (Australia) (PTY) Ltd.
Dave Stone has been in the financial planning business in Australia since 1995 and prior to that gained valuable experience for this career with 17 years working in the Australian Tax Office.
He holds Bachelor and Master of Business Degrees and has completed his Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning).
Dave lives in Perth, Western Australia with his wife Kerry, his three children. And of course being North London born means he continues to follow his football side with a passion.
Managing Director - ABIB (Canada)
Ron is a 30 year veteran of the insurance/risk management industry.
Since 1994 he has been President of R. Hooper Benefit Consultants Inc., with extensive experience in managing/consulting with US headquartered companies that have domestic operations in Canada.
He has extensive knowledge in all aspects of Canadian Retirement/ Pension landscape with particular attention to Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Pension Plans.
He is Certified in "Global Benefit Management" with the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) and a member of the Association of Canadian Pension Management.

Gordon joined Old Mutual in 1991 as a broker consultant serving independent brokers and advisers.
In 2000 he joined First National Bank as a financial planner, and then with twin brother, Warren, Abraxas Wealth Management (Pty) Ltd as an independent brokerage in 2003.
Managing Director - Alexander Beard RSA (Pty) Ltd.
Warren began life in the industry with Old Mutual in 1992 as a broker consultant looking after 19 independent brokers.
In 2000 Warren Joined First National Bank as a financial planner, and then with twin brother Gordon, launched Abraxas Wealth Management (Pty) Ltd as an independent brokerage in 2003.
Partner - Alexander Beard Wealth LLP (Yorkshire Branch)
Nigel joined the Financial Services industry in 1984 with Prudential Assurance.
During his 16 years there he fulfilled a number of roles and at the time he left, to join the Alexander Beard Group in January 2001, he was a Sales Manager in their Retail Division.
Nigel's initial responsibility within Alexander Beard Group was to manage their client base in the world of professional football and from there became the Manager of our Leeds Branch in 2003 and the Managing Partner of our UK Financial Planning Division on the 1st December 2008.
Since then he has also been assisting the Founder & Chairman in the development of our International Employee Benefits Division and on the 1st July 2010 was appointed to the Board of the Company as Client Services Director with responsibility for our three UK Divisions: UK Financial Planning; Sports Media & Entertainment and International Employee Benefits.
Following the acquisition of Lepretre and Partners in December 2014 and the subsequent, long planned restructuring of the group he took on the responsibility for our new combined UK Financial Planning business: Alexander Beard Wealth LLP.
He holds the Diploma in Financial Planning (DIP PFS) and an Advance Level Qualification in Pensions Planning.
Client Services Director - International Education and NGO
Lesley studied in Aberdeen prior to teaching in the UK and overseas.
She joined the Prudential Assurance Company Ltd in 1986 to help coordinate their links with the teachers Superannuation Scheme.
In 1996 Lesley and Janet Jenkinson left the Prudential to set up Junos Ltd, an independent financial advisory company specialising in the international schools market.
Junos was acquired by ABG in 2007 and Lesley remained with the business as Associate Director of ABG's new International Schools Division where she still travels extensively, working with a wide range of schools throughout Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe and now our expanding NGO client base in North America.
Lesley was appointed Client Services Director in early 2017.
Client Services Director - Employee Benefits
Holly has 9 years’ experience working within the Employee Benefits insurance industry in customer service roles.
Her main area of expertise lies in Group Risk (Income Protection, Life Assurance, Key Man and Critical Illness) as well as specialised and bespoke solutions.
A member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Holly is Cert CII qualified and uses her experience and knowledge to passionately manage and deliver to our client's a service of the highest standard.
Group Compliance Director
Kate joined The Alexander Beard Group in April 2018 as Compliance and Client Services Manager. After completing a Law Degree in 2003, she went on to qualify as a Financial Adviser with North Wales firm of Financial Advisers, Buckles, who became part of the Sanlam Group in 2008. Kate moved into the field of Compliance in 2006 and has since become a Fellow of the International Compliance Association.
Having managed a financial services compliance function for over 10 years, Kate is well versed in all areas of regulation, and is keen to promote the positive role Compliance can play in delivering a quality service.
Pensions and Business Development Director
Colin joined Alexander Beard Group’s employee benefits division from July 1st 2020 and brings with him over 25 years’ experience in financial services, advising corporate and individuals in employee benefits and financial planning, specializing in pension and employee engagement.
He has been a main board director of various companies for the last 20 years and joins us from the Broadstone Group where he was Head of Global Client Development.
Colin has substantial experience of working with multinational companies helping them manage their global employee benefit strategies and will add considerable value to our international employee benefit offering.
He holds the Chartered Banker and Chartered Financial Adviser qualifications and is currently studying a Global MBA at Manchester Business School.
Senior Partner - Alexander Beard Wealth LLP
John joined the Life Insurance Industry in 1986 with the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) before becoming an Independant Financial Adviser in January 1988.
He joined Alexander Beard in 1992, leaving in 1998 to become Managing Director of Independant Investment Services Limited, a Wirral based IFA business which he subsequently merged back into The Alexander Beard Group during 2005.
From then up until 1st December 2008 John was an Associate Director of The Alexander Beard Group when he accepted a Partnership in the Chester Branch.
He is a member of the Personal Finance Society, the holder of the Full Financial Planning Certificate and the Mortgage Advice Qualification.

Mike Shakespeare began his financial services career with Prudential in 1996 moving to the Pearl and later Britannic Assurance as Chester manager.
In 2001 he set up his own very successful IFA business in Bebington, on the Wirral, which he ran for the last 10 years before merging his business with ABG in August. During those years he has helped hundreds of people with their financial planning and home purchase.
Mike is a fully qualified IFA and a specialist equity release adviser; in addition he holds the Advanced CeMap Mortgage Adviser qualification.

Financial Advisor/Associate - Alexander Beard Wealth LLP (Yorkshire Branch)
Martin joined the financial services industry in 1985 with Commercial Union Life working in various different roles.
In 1993 he left to join Knavesmire Financial Services as an Independent Financial Adviser working actively with Expatriates based in the Commonwealth Countries.
5 years later he acquired the business and founded a new firm called Bankfield Financial Services offering all areas of financial advice to new and existing clients. In what has become an extremely fast-changing environment requiring major investment in technology and systems, Martin accepted an offer to merge his company with Alexander Beard Group in April 2003 and now works from our Leeds branch.
He has held the full Financial Planning Certificate since 1992 and has acquired the Mortgage Advice Qualification Certificate.
Director - Germany
Since 1982 Rudy has been a national and international employee benefits specialist and during his career he has worked not only in Europe but also in South Africa, Brazil and Mexico for companies such as Allianz, All Net and most recently AEGON N.V.
In Germany he has specialized in managing the implementation of new E.B. plans as well as the restructuring of existing plans.
Rudy has a Master’s degree in Economics and a Diploma in Business administration, is married to Angelika and they have one son.

Gilles came to the UK in 1996 working for Legal & General for 9 years, in various roles within the organization. His last role was as a Business Development Manager for the London City office.
In 2008, Gilles started working as a Financial Planning Consultant for Leprêtre & Partners LLP, (who were acquired by Alexander Beard in December 2014).
In 2010 he moved back to France where he worked for Fern Hill as a cross border adviser, which was acquired by ABG’s JV partners, KMH Gestion Privée in 2014 (due to the passing of its owner), Gilles started working with KHM Gestion Privée providing cross border financial advice to British expatriates or French ex-expatriates returning to France.
After a short stint working for a French bank in the Strasbourg area in 2015 as a Financial Adviser, and sitting & passing the AMF certification for Financial Advisers in France, Alexander Beard (France) SAS was created as a joint venture between KMH Gestion Privée and Alexander Beard Group, and Gilles started working on the development of the new structure alongside his colleagues from the Lyon and UK offices.
In November 2016 Gilles completed the Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Financial Planning and since January 2017 has divided his time between ABG’s London office – specializing in cross border advice, both in France and in the UK to our extensive French client base in London and AB France in Lyon where he is spearheading our cross border pension product EUVEST.
Gilles has many passions, his Australian Shepherd's dog, trekking & walking, running, cycling, going to the gym, tennis and motorsports. He is also a keen furniture restorer.
Hannah spent several years in roles within offshore financial services, before joining the company as an administrator in 2007 within our International Schools Division.
She became the Administration Supervisor of the same division in 2009, and in June 2016 was promoted to Administration Manager of both the International Education & NGO Division and the Alexander Beard International Benefits Division.
A year later, Hannah became the Administration Manager for the Group.
Anne joined The Alexander Beard Group in June 2016 as HR Manager after spending 6 years working as the Cluster HR Manager for the Macdonald Hotel Group. Anne’s industry experience spans across retail, property development, housing and hospitality and she is enjoying the opportunity of working in yet another new sector.
Anne started her HR career in 2004 as HR Administrator for Index Retailers whilst studying for her CIPD, before moving on to a North Wales Housing Association following the closure of Index Ltd. Anne then took her first step into an autonomous role introducing the HR function for a property development firm based in Liverpool before moving to a large nationwide hospitality company where she had responsibility for all HR functions spread across two properties.
Anne’s interest in HR started around employee motivation and this passion still stands today. Anne is a Chartered Member of the CIPD and is keen to develop the HR function at ABG.
Paula joined Alexander Beard Group in April 2006 as PA to Chairman, Paul Beard. Having worked for over 13 years in this position Paula was promoted in September 2019 to Project Manager having assisted Paul with many projects over the years.
She took on increased responsibilities including management of the company’s special projects and overseeing the Expatriate Division.
Prior to joining Alexander Beard Group, Paula has worked as a Research Manager and then moved to be a PA at one of the UK’s largest insurance companies.
Paula spends most weekends either hiking up a mountain or skiing at the Manchester indoor ski slope perfecting her skiing.
Simone joined the Alexander Beard Group in January 2020 as Administration Manager for UK Wealth Management business. She has worked within the industry for a number of years, having started her career with Santander (formerly National & Provincial) in 1991 where she held a number of positions over the years, progressing from Cashier to Banking Adviser and subsequently becoming an Adviser.
In 2013, she moved on to working within an IFA practice, where she held the roles of PA to Director, Paraplanner and Office Manager.
Financial Advisor/Associate - Alexander Beard Global Services: Expat Division
Glynn began his career with a firm of Chartered Accountants before moving into Independent Financial Advice in 1984 with a North West based firm of IFA’s.
After establishing himself as a Pensions specialist, he later became responsible for the implementation of strategy and day to day running of the newly created Wealth Management business and eventually became a Director and Shareholder in the Group. He was also a key member of the Investment Committee which formulated Investment strategy and risk management for the business as a whole.
The Group went through a series of Management Buy-outs eventually being sold to Mattioli Woods Plc, an AIM listed Company in 2015. This prompted Glynn to seek new challenges and has more recently been involved in project work initially with Mattioli Woods and then moving to Alexander Beard in April 2019.
He is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. His interests include playing golf, watching most sports and recently qualified as a personal trainer which occupies most weekends.
