Nigel Speirs

Nigel established his first financial advice business, Buckles, in 1987, which he grew this through both acquisitions and organic growth to become a top 100 IFA business.
In 2002 commenced the Buckles graduate programme, many of whom are still practicing today.
In April 2008, Buckles was sold to Sanlam.
In 2013 Nigel became full time head of Distribution for Sanlam UK and focused on working with IFA businesses in the UK. Also joining the Sanlam UK board as an executive director.
In July 2015 Nigel was asked by Old Mutual to build a direct to client advice business. Consequently, Nigel left Sanlam and joined Old Mutual to establish a start-up business within a Footsie 40 company. Four years from launch the business had grown to approximately £4billion of client assets and employing 230 staff.
Nigel retired from the business on the 31st of December 2018. Following a period of consulting with Quilter, Nigel is now acting as a consultant to several financial services companies.
